Alvin Hernandez, 82, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, December 29, 2025.

Alvin was born on March 13th, 1943 in San Antonio, TX to Sotero and Florence Hernandez. At a young age he and his family moved to Hollandale, MN where he learned a hard days work had his benefits and never stopped working. In 1970 he was united in marriage to Maria Carmen Orta and had three children. His work life included working with his father and two brothers at the Albert Lea Foundry, later working at Land O’ Lakes, staying through many name changes to finally retire after 40 plus years under Cargill.

Alvin enjoyed many things in this life. One of which was spending time with family. Whether it was a phone conversation or a cookout there was always a conversation to be had. He enjoyed tinkering around with small motors. Just to see if he could get a lawn mower running and smiling when it started up. He enjoyed playing guitar whenever he could. Making up songs about everyone and everything. His favorite thing on T.V. was watching wrestling. Following the line up to watch every week and when pay-per-views were on, his place was the place to be.

Alvin is survived by his eldest son; Alvin Jr and his children: Ariel, Alexandria and Malikia; his daughter Carmelita (Tresh) and her children: Cassie, Mickey and Delta; his youngest son and Sergio (Laura) and his children: Lydia, Esther and Isaiaha; eight great-grand children, his sister Rosalie (Richard) Peterson; his brother Robert (Anna) Hernandez; many nieces and nephews, too many to name. Also, his longtime companion Janie Jamie who was by his side for over 30 years.

Patrick, Herman and Ramen; his sisters Theresa and Marylou, his sisters lost in infancy, Alma and Irma; nephew Kevin; nieces April, Lou Ann and Patty. Great-nephew Garrin and great-niece Cindy Rae.
