Virgil WorkeMay 27, 1932 ~ November 27, 2017 (age 85)
Memorial Services for Virgil C. Worke, formerly of Clarks Grove, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 15th at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Reverend Richard L. Sliper will officiate. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Ellendale. Military honors will be accorded by the Ellendale Veteran’s Organization. Friends may visit one hour before the service at the church. Virgil died on Monday, November 27, at Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie, MN. He was 85. He was born on May 27, 1932, in Ellendale, MN, the son of Helmer and Agnes (Hagen) Worke. He graduated from Ellendale High School and then served our country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was united to Eloris Anderson on January 30, 1956, in Ellendale, Minnesota and they made their home in Clarks Grove, MN. Virgil had worked at the Albert Lea Foundry for many years and then Enderes Tool before retiring. After retirement he kept busy working for the City of Clarks Grove which he enjoyed. He also found passion helping his brother-in-law on the farm. Virgil enjoyed snowmobiling, bowling, dancing the polka and curling in earlier years. He loved playing cards, being around family and enjoying good food. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Ellendale. Virgil is survived by two daughters Julie (Stuart) Bestul of Apple Valley, MN and Lisa (Brad) Starin of Prior Lake, MN, grandchildren: Kelsey (Zach) Millis and daughter Adalyn of Savage, MN, Cody Bestul of Apple Valley, MN; Kali Starin and Karenna Starin of Prior Lake, MN; sister: Bev Standke of Owatonna, MN; sister’s-in-law and brother’s-in-law: Jerome (Shirley) Anderson of Cass County, MN, Edward (Kathy) Anderson of New Richland, MN, Gloria (Jack) Jensen of Clarks Grove, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eloris, siblings: Donald, Dale, LaVerne, Paul, Jack, Marjorie and Dorothy. Virgil was kind hearted, caring and a jokester, who loved his grandchildren dearly and would do anything for his family.
