Elaine Cynthia (Hatle) Johnson

July 11, 1922 ~ April 26, 2019 (age 96)
Memorial Service for Elaine Cynthia Johnson of New Richland will be on Friday, May 10 at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at LeSueur Lutheran Church Cemetery at a later time. Elaine was born on July 11, 1922 in Waseca County, Minnesota and was the daughter of Gerhardt and Clara Hatle. She passed away on April 26 at the New Richland Care Center. She was 96 years old. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Johnson on December 5, 1949. Elaine had worked as a waitress at the Fox Inn, operated and cooked for Johnson’s Cafe and cooked at the New Richland Bowling Alley. She later worked at EF Johnson’s in Waseca as well as Friedrich’s Furniture Store in New Richland. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland where she served on the Altar Guild. Elaine was a talented seamstress and enjoyed baking bread and making lefse. She loved music, dancing and making people laugh. Elaine’s family included children: Charmaine (Ron) Cadwell of Blaine, MN, Xan Johnson (Laina Rajala) of New Richland, Lynette (Brad) Wayne of Hastings, MN; grandchildren: Jennifer Cadwell (Charlie) Vaughan of Minneapolis, Molly (Mark) Gerber of Minneapolis, Sally (Paul) Sparby of Waconia, MN, Raece Johnson of New Richland, Maurya Johnson of New Richland, Matt (Erin) Wayne of Hastings, MN, Christopher (Christy) Wayne of Hastings, MN; great grandchildren: Patrick, Benjamin, Mallory, Thomas, and Casey Wayne, Josh, Lydia, and Alexis Sparby, Sailor Vaughan and Cruz Gerber, sisters:, Edith Hansen of Washington and Ruth Strand of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lloyd, brothers Orvin (Alice), Wesley (Edna), Clair, infant Arnold, and Herbert Hatle; sisters Evelyn (Ray) Foley, Rebecca (Charles) Stephenson and Avis (Glenn) Wobschall; brothers-in-law Lyle Strand, John Hansen, several nieces and nephews as well as special friend Don Bartness. The family would like to thank the New Richland Care Center and St. Croix Hospice for the loving care they gave Elaine. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the New Richland Care Center or Trinity Lutheran Church.
