Funeral services for Alice G. Arnold will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 6, 2019 at St. Theodore Catholic Church, Albert Lea, with Father Kurt Farrell officiating. Burial will follow at St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Alice passed away at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, MN after a long, 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 83 years old.
Alice Gertrude (Riss) was born on December 6, 1935 in Worthington, MN to parents Henry and Eva (McQuiston) Riss. She graduated from Worthington High School and went to beauty school in Mankato. On September 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to Wendell Arnold in Worthington, MN. To this union, five children were born. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1964. Alice has been a resident of Albert Lea up until the last 6 years when she moved to Mankato to be closer to her daughter.
Alice worked at JC Penny in Albert Lea for many years. After retirement, she worked part time at the Freeborn County Historical Museum. Alice was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church and was a very devout Catholic. She was also a member of the Legion Auxiliary.
Needlecrafts, reading mystery novels, watching movies, and baking were some of Alice’s favorite hobbies. Nobody could make caramels quite like Alice! She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and cherished time spent with her family.
She is preceded in death by both parents, Henry and Eva Riss; husband, Wendell Arnold; great-grandchild, Emmalynn Garcia; and 10 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Deni (Mike) Garcia of Emmons, MN, Debi (Mark) Tough of Sioux Falls, SD, Cheryl (Brad) Williams of Garden City, MN, David (Connie) Arnold of Northfield, MN, and Scott (Michelle) Arnold of Albert Lea; grandchildren, Jasmine, Zachary, Olivia, Gabe (Stephanie), Annissa (Jason), Hailey, Ryan (Christine), Jess (Blake), and Alisha; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Gavin, Brynleigh, Bennett, Brayden, Avyanna, Lukas, Nathan, and Noah; brother, Jim Riss; as well as many loving extended family and friends.
