Remembering the life of Sylvia Marie Boettger....

Sylvia Marie Boettger, 92, of New Richland, Minnesota died peacefully in her sleep on December 20, 2007 at the Friendship Village Hospice of the Valley in Arizona.



Born in Zanesville, Ohio, the oldest of five children, she moved with her family to Freeborn, Minnesota. Later the family moved to New Richland, where she met and

married Julius Boettger in September of 1935. There they raised their two children, Julie

and Dan, on a farm near New Richland.



Sylvia was an elementary school teacher, first in a one-room country school with eight grades and later in the New Richland school district. She served on many committees at the Congregational Church within the New Richland community, including Hospice and American Legion Auxiliary.

She warmed the hearts of many family members and friends with her handmade quilts.

Her hobbies were playing all kinds of card games and Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, collecting antiques (especially teapots) and taking fishing trips with her family.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Julius, in 1979; infant son; grandson, Scott Boettger in 1984; brother, Chester Cherrington of Ohio; sister, Betty Nelson of Alaska; and sister, Carol Hansen of Colorado.

She is survived by her brother Roger Cherrington of New Ulm, Minnesota; brother-in-law Lloyd Hansen of Colorado; two children: Julie Burzlaff of Maple Grove, Minnesota (and son-in-law, David Burzlaff) and Daniel Boettger of New Richland (and daughter-in-law, Midge Boettger); four grandchildren: Nicole Boettger of Des Moines, Iowa; Sulynn Russell of Rochester and husband, Matt Russell); Mi Soon Burzlaff of Seoul, Korea; Nathan Burzlaff of St. Louis Park, Minnesota (and wife, Susan Burzlaff). She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.



Visitation will be held at Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland on Thursday, December 27, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM and one hour preceding the funeral service, which is on Friday, December 28 at 10:30 AM.



Memorials are preferred for First Congregational Church in New Richland, MN.
