Obituary for Richard Leonard Guenther
The funeral service for Richard Leonard Guenther will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Alden, MN. The Reverend Peter Soli will officiate. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans? Organizations.
Richard died on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Rochester, MN. He was 76 years old.
Richard was born in Albert Lea, MN on February 18, 1928, the son of Paul and Mabel (Christensen) Guenther. He attended school in Alden, MN. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army from March, 1946 to September 1947.
On June 5, 1954 Richard was united in marriage with Mary Martin in Hopkins, MN. Richard worked as a mechanic for Wayne Motors in Alden, MN, owned and operated Dick?s Texaco in Alden for 5 years and worked as a mechanic for Syverson Ford for over 30 years. He was a volunteer for the Alden Fire Department. He was a member of the Albert Lea Elks, Alden American Legion, NRA, Albert Lea Rifle and Pistol Club and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing and was fond of time spent with his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his wife, Mary of Alden, MN; three children: Paul (Mieko) Guenther of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Curtis (Lori) Guenther and their children: Evan and Ana of Alden, MN, Jane Kirsch and her children: Ryan and Nicole of Albert Lea, MN; one sister, Delorus (George) Jacobs of Albert Lea, MN; step brother, Richard (Elaine) Petersen of Clark Field, MN; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Chris Petersen.
