Funeral services for Oscar J. Adams will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the St. Theodore Catholic Church in Albert Lea. Father Russell Scepaniak and Deacon Michael Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of the service at the church.
Oscar passed away surrounded by his family on July 2, 2015 at the Mayo Health Systems, Albert Lea. He was 65 years old.
Oscar Joe Adams was born on September 15, 1949 in Albert Lea to Paul and Alejandra (Gutierrez) Adams. He was a lifetime resident of Albert Lea. When he was 17, he began working for the Albert Lea Seed House, and continued working for them until his health would no longer allow it. Oscar was united in marriage to Nora (Cantu) in December 4, 1968 in Albert Lea. Oscar was a member at St. Theodore Catholic Church.
In his free time, Oscar enjoyed hunting, fishing, birdwatching, and tinkering with anything mechanical. In his earlier years, he drove in Demolition Derbies around the area. Oscar loved his grandchildren, and cherished every moment they spent together. He was smarter than most people gave him credit for, and he was always someone you could count on. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a 16 year old son; three children in infancy; and his brothers, Paul Adams Jr. and Gilbert Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nora; children, Sherry (Tim Williams) Adams, Gordy Adams, and Stacy (Danny) Lugo; grandchildren, Joshua, Anica and Holly Cole; Jennifer, Jordan, Erin, Justin, Allyson, and Nathan Adams, and Marley Lugo; great-grandchildren, Mahlya, Melody, Ryan, Rheya, and Rhyleigh; siblings, Mary (Jesse) Zamora, Mary Lou Adams, Rudolfo Adams, Alma Rosa (Ray) Talamantes, Blanca Stella Guardado, Alexandra (Bartolo) Orozco, Gloria Cerda, Dora Sandoval, Silvia (Pedro) Ortiz, and Ernesto Adams; brothers and sisters-in-law; Linda Adams, Lucy Pena, Raul (Carol) Cantu, Jesse (Patty) Cantu, Maria Cantu, and Jose (Helen) Cantu; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
