Remembering the life of Mary Walsh Cruser



The Funeral Service for Mary Walsh Cruser, 85, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, July 29, 2005 at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Reverend Jim Berning will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:30 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour prior to

services at the church. There will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mary died on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at Thorne Crest Apartments.

Mary was born to Michael and Theresa (Sharkey) Walsh on October 21, 1919. She married John H. Cruser on June 12, 1943 in New Jersey. She was very active in her home church and community. She started the Catholic Youth Organization at Holy Name Church in East Orange, New Jersey. She was later named Woman of the Year in New Jersey.

During her ten years in Albert Lea she was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church, C.C.W., American Legion Auxiliary, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary.

Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, playing bridge and 500 and reading. Mary was best known for saying "If you cannot say anything good about a person, don't say anything at all."

Mary is survived by her children Joan-Anne and husband Len Shelhamer of Albert Lea, MN and their children Michael and wife Lisa Shelhamer and Jennifer and husband Tony Hedberg; John Robert and wife Amparo Cruser of Basking Ridge, NJ and their children Jillian and Michael; Theresa and husband Tim Crosby of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL and their children Taylor Anne and Keenan Andrew; and Charles and wife Margaret Cruser of Livermore, CA; great grandchildren Liam and Rowan Shelhamer and Andrew and Lily Hedberg; and sister Theresa Dyer of Toms River, NJ an brother Alfred and wife Doris Walsh of Parsippany, NJ.

Her parents, Michael and Theresa Walsh, her loving husband John H. Cruser and her brothers Joseph, Stephen and Jack Walsh, precede her in death.

Mary loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and was always so happy to see them. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Memorials to St. Theodore's and First Presbyterian Church.
