Marie Adkins

The funeral service for Marie I. Adkins will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Reverend Clayton Balsley will officiate. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Marie Adkins passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at her home. She was 80 years old. Marie was born in Mansfield Township on March 19, 1933 to Russell and Emma (Hauskins) Haukoos. She attended country school, and on October 28, 1950 she was united in marriage to Floyd Adkins. Together they traveled across the country while Floyd was in the service, and settled down in Albert Lea in the late 1950s.
Marie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked at the Albert Lea Tribune for 34 years. She enjoyed coffee with friends, gardening, feeding the birds, and being outside.
She is survived by her children, Treasa (James) Love of Albert Lea, Darrell (Paula) Adkins of Shoreview, and Russell (Karen) Adkins of Northwood, IA; grandchildren, Norena (Travis) Brekke of Clarks Grove, Michelle (Kevin) Tufte of Albert Lea, Aaron (Holly) Adkins of Hastings, Heather Adkins of Northwood, IA, and Alex Adkins of Northwood, IA; great grandchildren, Charley and Pacey Brekke, and Brooke and Tenley Tufte; brother, Glenn (Elinor) Doty of Albert Lea; sisters in law, Ethel Doty, Marilyn Haukoos, Grace Haukoos; nieces and nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; sisters, Dorothy and Ruth; and brothers, Jim, Bob, and Kenny. Marie was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be loved and greatly missed.
