Remembering the life of Louis M. Battey??.



The Funeral Service for Louis M. Battey was held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, September 13, 2004 at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf.

The Reverend Michael Mathews officiated. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Friedrich Funeral Home, New Richland, and one hour before the service at the church. Interment was in Waldorf Cemetery.



Louis M. Battey was born on November 25, 1914, in Chatfield, MN., the son of Monroe and Doris (Sackett) Battey. He lived with foster parents Florence and Charles Hall in Alma City, MN., until his sophomore year in high school when the family moved to Waldorf. He graduated from Waldorf High School with honors and attended Mankato State University for one year. He married Gladys Tesch on June 16, 1938 at the First Lutheran Church in Waldorf. Following

their marriage, they made their home and farmed in rural Waldorf.

In his later years they enjoyed traveling and wintering in Texas.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Waldorf where he ushered, was a former Elder and was active in the Couples Club.

He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and fishing.



Louis is survived by his wife of 66 years Gladys, now living in Albert Lea, son Clarence Battey and his wife Eileen of New Richland, MN., two daughters: Bonnie and her husband Edgar Dinse of Owatonna, Patricia Coy of New Richland, grandchildren: Laurie Riemer, James Battey,

Jeffrey Battey, Linda Battey, Jerry Battey, Brenda Watson, Darla Ferch, Dawn Goebel, Diana Zimmerli, Donna Luttinen, Steven Coy, Thomas Coy; 13 great grandsons, 10 great granddaughters, one great great granddaughter; sister Frances Patrice Chio Chios of Waseca, brother Donald Battey of Austin, TX., and many nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Jerry, great granddaughter Bridget Battey, son-in-law Ronald Coy.
