Remembering the life of Lorraine M. Levisen
Funeral Services for Lorraine M. Levisen of Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea will be
held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday , September 19, 2003 at Ascension Lutheran
Church of Albert Lea. Pastor Richard Spande will officiate. Interment will be in
Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M.to 8:00 P.M. on
Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.
Lorraine died at the Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday, September 17, 2003. She was 77.
She was born on March 22, 1926, in Lake Mills, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Lynn Gunderson. She graduated from Lake Mills High School and attended Waldorf College.
Music was a big part of her life and she sang for many
weddings and funerals.
On August 15, 1947, she married Donald M. Levisen at the
Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.
At the age of 26, she was diagnosed with MS. As it became
more difficult for her, she entered Good Samaritan Center
in 1970. The family is so appreciative of the wonderful
tender loving care she received from the staff for more than
30 years. Even with all her physical difficulties, Lorraine
never lost her great sense of humor and her positive spirit
was evident to everyone.
Lorraine is survived by her son Bob Levisen and his wife Darlene
of rural Albert Lea, grandchildren: Jens, Megan, Mariah, and Jacob
Levisen; two brothers: Donald Gunderson and his wife Lois of Austin, David Gunderson and his wife Diane of Galesburg, ILL.,
Sister: Lois and her husband Don Holst of Lake Mills, Iowa, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Helen and Norval Nelson , Arnold and Erma Levisen, Earl and Maurine Levisen, Paul and
Ruth "Dolly" Levisen, Myron "Mike" and Pat Levisen and many
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don in June of 2002, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Lillian and Ingwald Bro, Thorvald and Irene Levisen and aunts and uncles.
