Helen Wyman Abramson, age 100, died on May 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, MN.

Helen was born on June 21, 1914, in Traverse City, MI to William Gray and Ina (Smith) Wyman. As a child, Helen moved with her family to Winona, MN. Following her graduation from Winona Teachers College in 1935, she taught school in Avoca and Cannon Falls. While teaching in Avoca she met Herman Edward Abramson and they were married on June 25, 1938, in Winona. After their marriage, she taught in a country school. They farmed near Avoca and Slayton, MN, until 1970 when they retired to an acreage near Worthington. Helen and Herman enjoyed many years of traveling, spending time with family, and community involvement. After Herman's passing in 2000, Helen lived in Fulda before moving to Oak Park Place in Albert Lea, MN, in 2009.

Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea and previously belonged to churches in Avoca, Slayton, and Worthington. She sang in choir, taught Sunday school, enjoyed Bible studies and participated in church circles. She belonged to Eastern Star, Farm Bureau, neighborhood clubs and served as a 4-H Adult Leader. Her hobbies included music, sewing, and knitting. In retirement, she worked at the Worthington Junior High School Library and loved it because reading, especially poetry, was her passion. She cataloged her own personal book collection using the Dewey Decimal System!

Helen is survived by her daughters, Janet (Philip) Hintermeister and Jean Pelikan of Albert Lea, MN; five grandchildren, Gerald (Ronda) and James (Donelle) Hintermeister, Gayle (Stephen) Brownlow, Kirk (Mary) and Krista Pelikan; and ten great-grandchildren, Rachel, Andy, Sam, Sydne, Sean, Dane, Lauren, Patrick, Christopher, and Timothy. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman; and her sister, Elizabeth Ann Hines.
