Harry Richter

September 20, 1925 — July 18, 2015

Harry George Richter, age 89, of Alden passed away on July 18, 2015 at his home. Funeral services for Harry Richter will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Concordia Lutheran Church Pickerel Lake. Reverend Wendy Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be held the night before from 4-7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea, MN and again one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery Pickerel Lake.

Harry was one of twelve children born to George and Ella (Brinske) Richter on September 20, 1925. He has lived in the same square mile near Alden his whole life long. Harry was a member at Concordia Lutheran Church Pickerel Lake where he was baptized, confirmed, and married. On September 9, 1946 he married Marie Ohm.

Harry was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. He was a farmer and handyman, working several jobs including Richter Hardware. He retired on August 13, 1993. He enjoyed woodworking, fixing tractors, and fixing his old cars-- 1925 model A Ford and 1941 Chevy. Harry enjoyed socializing, having coffee with 'the gang' twice a day. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his grandchildren.

Harry is survived by his children, James Richter (Mary) of Lake Mills, IA and Judy Perez of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren, Jeffrey Benny (Erica), James Benny (Becky Haugen), Daniel Richter (Jacqui Jepson), Mercedes Perez (Hunter Dahl), Lexxi Perez; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fern Drescher, Raymond Richter, Erma Colvin, Elnora Christenson (Nels); and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Harry is preceded in death by his wife, Marie; parents, George and Ella; infant son, Dean Harry Richter; siblings, Minnie Jacobson, Marie Wacholz, Frieda Jahnke, Clara Rebielein, Arthur Richter, Donald Richter, Elmer Richter; brothers-in-law, Albert Ohm, Marvin Drescher, Howard Colvin, George Rebielein, George Jacobson, George Wacholz; sisters-in-law, Alma Richter and Grace Ohm.
