Harold Raymond Nelson was born on August 6, 1921 to James and Nettie (Bothum) Nelson in Saskatchewan, Canada. The family later moved to Freeborn County where Harold attended school until the 8th grade. From that time on he worked on the farm. He was united in marriage to Eleanor (Brindel) in 1951. The couple moved around the Albert Lea and Glenville area until purchasing a farm in Rochester in 1963. Harold continued to farm his entire life, living on his family farm outside of Rochester until he passed away. Aside from farming, Harold loved to bowl. In his early years, he liked to play horseshoes, and was a great pitcher until he threw his arm out. He still continued to watch baseball, and cheered on the Minnesota Twins.
He is survived by his children, Harold L. (Jean) Nelson, of Rochester, Harlan (Darlene) Nelson, of North Las Vegas, Raymond Nelson, of Rochester, and Mark (Mary) Nelson, of Rochester; 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, as well as other loving relatives and friends.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eleanor; a daughter at birth, Darlene; a grandson, Stephen, great-great grandchild Payton; and siblings, LuVerne, Lester, Robert, and Glen.
Blessed be his memory!
