Grace Schlaak

Funeral services for Grace Ethel Schlaak of Waseca , MN , will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 15, 2009 at St Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN. Pastor Gerald Giese will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 14, 2009 from 4 until 8 PM at the Friedrich Funeral Home in New Richland, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St Peter’s Cemetery.



Mrs. Schlaak died Thursday evening at St Mary’s Hospital in Rochester , MN . She was 84 years of age.



Grace was born April 17, 1925 in Decoriah Township , Blue Earth County , the daughter of George and Viola (Beelow) Truebenbach. She attended country school in Decoriah Township .



On April 30, 1947 she was united in marriage to Marvin Schlaak at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Decoriah. She was a member of St Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Richland and had been active in the Ladies Aid.



Grace was an active homemaker and worked with her husband on the farm for many years. She also had worked at Brown Printing for over 25 years.



Grace loved to play cards and do word search puzzles. She also enjoyed Yahtzee, solitaire, gardening, cooking and canning. Her family and friends were very important to her.



Grace is survived by her daughters; Geraldine and her husband David Lienke of Waldorf, MN, Audrey and her husband Jon Weiske of Waseca, MN, and Sandra Schlomann of Waseca, MN. There are 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One sister and one brother also survive; Elsie Starke of North Mankato , MN , and Ivan ( Lorraine ) Truebenbach of Good Thunder, MN. Sisters in law include; Laura Truebenbach of New Richland, MN, Charlotte Truebenbach of Mankato, MN, Bernice Truebenbach of Mankato, MN, Delilah Fennert of Waseca, MN, and Lucille Beelow of Waseca, MN.



Grace was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin, three brothers, sibling triplets in infancy, and three brothers in law.
