Private graveside services for Glenn M. Bertelson of Good Samaritan

Center, Albert Lea, will be held at Graceland Cemetery.



Glenn died on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center.

He was 89.



Glenn was born on October 12, 1914, in Long Beach, California, the son of Edward and Julia (Barlich) Bertelson. He graduated from High School in Stockton, CA. He worked at various jobs and then came to Albert Lea to work with his uncle at Bertelson Lumber in 1937.

He met Geraldine Tapager and on July 21, 1939, they were united in marriage in Reno, Nevada.

From July of 1943 until January of 1946, Glenn served our country in the U.S. Army in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater.



When Glenn returned from the service he worked at Wilson Company for a short time and then served the city of Albert Lea in the Police Department becoming Lieutenant before retiring after 20 years of service.

Following his retirement he returned to work at Wilson's.



Glenn loved to travel, hunt, and fish, He enjoyed flying, during his life he flew on commercial airlines over two million miles all over the world

Glenn was especially fond of spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons: Ed Bertelson and his wife Norlene of Bloomington, MN., Tony Bertelson of Albert Lea; 6 grandchildren:

Wendi Franklin, Niki Solum, Scott Bertelson, Jill Guhlke, Tracy Wiese

and Chris Bertelson; 10 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law Carrena Fenner of Naches, Washington, Belle Bertelson of Stockton, CA., and special friends Kathy Alberts, The Pesch family, and Sue Barber.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Geraldine in 2001, one great granddaughter Sarah, a brother Cliff Bertelson and a sister Irene Poole.

Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
