The Funeral Service for Gertrude M. Osburn, will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Sheryl

Osburn will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral

home. Interment will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa at 3:00 P.M.

on Tuesday.



Gertrude M. Osburn, 94, died Thursday, November 18, 2004 at the home of

her daughter, Judith, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Until recently, she had lived at her

home of 502 Sheridan St. Albert Lea, Minnesota.



Gertrude Mae Springer, daughter of Guy and MaryAnn Springer of Rippey, Iowa,

was born October 29, 1910. Her family later moved to Perry, Iowa where she

graduated from Perry High School. On January 2, 1930, she married DeLoss

Osburn of Perry. The couple resided in Mt. Vernon, Iowa and Chicago, IL,

before settling in Albert Lea, where they raised a family of three sons and a

daughter.



She was a homemaker and an active participant in her husbands businesses

Dee?s Grill, Dee?s Drive Inn and previously, Yellow Taxi of Albert Lea.

during WWII, due to manpower shortages, she often had to drive taxi as

well as manage their business. She was an avid traveler. In her life time she

had visited every state, all of Canada and made many trips to Mexico, Europe,

and Latin America. She had also been active in civic affairs and was a past president of a PTO, Albert Lea Does and two years president of U.T.C. In

her spare time she loved gardening and painting.



Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Judith Osburn, of St. Paul, sons Richard

Osburn of Des Moines, and Robert Osburn of New Hope, MN, eight grandchildren

and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three

sisters, husband DeLoss and a son Frederick of San Diego, CA.
