Remembering Geraldine Hoffman



Gerry Hoffman was born June 8, 1928 in Steele County, Minnesota to William Christian and Elizabeth Augusta (Tessmer) Ackman. At the age of six, Gerry came to the New Richland area. From 1946-1949 she lived in Owatonna, Minnesota and worked at Jostens. Gerry then moved back to New Richland. She married Bernard Martin Hoffman on September 25, 1950 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, New Richland. Gerry was very active in her church and belonged to the Ladies Aid, circle, choir, quilting club and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She worked for Birds Eye Food and Waseca County Extension Office. From 1967-1991 Gerry worked for the Waseca Soil and Water Conservation District. Gerry enjoyed square dancing, sewing, doing hardanger, gardening both floral and vegetable. Her family was very important to her.



Gerry is survived by her husband Martin of New Richland, Minnesota; two daughters; Victoria Ress and her husband Daniel of Chaska, Minnesota and Cheryl Perry and her husband Jon of New Richland, Minnesota; grandchildren: Kelsey Ress of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Brenna Ress of Gustavus College, St. Peter, Minnesota, Jessica Perry of Baldwin, Wisconsin and Lucas Perry of the University of Wisconsin Stout, Menomonie, Wisconsin; brother: Harold Ackman and his wife Bonnie of Waseca, Minnesota; sister: Alvina Frank of Shoreview, Minnesota and many nieces and nephews.



Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; sister Esther Baumgart; brothers: Elmer and Kenneth Ackman and a brother in infancy.
