Fay Zimmerman

Fay Zimmerman passed away at the Albert Lea Medical Center on September 24, 2010 two days after her 77th birthday. The Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 29, at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea. The Reverend Tom Biatek will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

Fay was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on September 22, 1933, the daughter of James and Lydia (Smith) Martin. She attended various schools there and also Wells High School, graduating with the class of '51. She had resided in Wisconsin until 1945 when she moved to Wells. She moved to Albert Lea in 1952 where she lived the remainder of her life.

Fay was united in marriage to Harold Zimmerman on October 12, 1952. They had 50 years of happiness together. They were members of the United Methodist Church where Fay taught Sunday School for 2 years and also sang in the Chancel Choir. Fay had many places of employment over the years: The Yellow Cab Co for 10 years, Golden Age Nursing Home, Burger King for 5 years, and Banquet Foods in Wells until her health forced her retirement. Fay enjoyed reading, fancy crafts, playing cards and Bingo, as well as dancing as long as she was able to do so. She was a member of the Golden Age Group, as well as the Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by one sister, Esther Roberts of Farmington, MN, sister-in-law Marjorie Martin, Eau Claire, WI, brother-in-law Austin Watson, Chippewa Falls, WI, many nieces, nephews, plus special friends Don and Nancy Poore. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Zimmerman in 2003, her parents Alfred and Lydia (Martin) Bowen; 4 sisters: Lovica Hopkins, Ethel Tolzmann, Ruth Scheidler, and Grace Watson; 2 brothers: James V. Martin and Eugene A. Martin; 1 sister-in-law: Beverly Martin; 4 brothers-in-law: Cleo Hopkins, Carl Tolzmann, Edward Scheidler, and Giles Roberts.
