Evelyn Cornick

Memorial services for Evelyn G. Cornick will be held at 1:30PM Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea. Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be held 5-7PM Monday, February 16 at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea and again one hour prior to the service at Good Samaritan Society. Spring interment will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood, IA.

Evelyn G. Cornick passed away peacefully on February 9, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, MN. She was 100 years old. Evelyn was born on January 28, 1915 to Roy and Ida (Volbruck) Frost in Albert Lea, MN. She was a resident of Albert Lea her whole life, graduating from Albert Lea High School. After high school, Evelyn married Hugh Bernard "Bun" Cornick in Albert Lea.

Evelyn was a homemaker for the majority of her life, but also held jobs working at the Jefferson neighborhood grocery store, Bun's Cardinal, Cornick Nursing Home, and Woolworth's dime store. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church for many years and enjoyed volunteering her time at SEMCAC providing senior meals. Some of Evelyn's favorite hobbies included gardening, playing BINGO, fishing, going for rides, and spending time with family.

Evelyn in survived by her children, Myrna Giles, Ruth Schreiber, Hugh Cornick, Gene (Darlene) Cornick of Arkansas; grandchildren, Robert (Iris) Giles, Kathryn (Keith) Reyerson, Scott (Lorie) Schreiber, Sue (Dan) Young, Tod Schreiber (Anna) of Arizona, Angie Beener, Hugh Cornick, Wendy Cornick, Mandy (Scott) Burrows, Gwen (Chad) Anderson, Levi (Marzzerine) Cornick, Adam Cornick; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Margie Moore; special niece, Janie Trontvet; and many other relatives and friends.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband, "Bun" Cornick; parents, Roy and Ida Frost; sisters, Vida Bothum and Helen Marie Smith; infant brother, Levi Frost; and daughter-in-law, Bernadine Cornick.
