Erliss Buss

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Round Prairie Lutheran Church. The Reverend Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea is assisting the family.
Erliss Arlene Anderson Buss was born April 21, 1920 in a log house on the Tolef Anderson farm, Freeborn County, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully on January 27, 2015 at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea, Minnesota.
She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1938. She then attended and graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. She taught in a country school eat of Austin, MN before moving to Washington State. There, she and Lyle Buss were married, October 9, 1942 in Port Orchard. During the War years, she was a telephone operator while Lyle was at sea in the Navy. After the War, they moved to Bellingham where she taught 25 years in the Meridian School district. During the Bellingham years, they bought a portion of the Tolef Anderson farm. In 1997, they left Bellingham, built a new home on the family farm where they spent their retirement years.
Erliss enjoyed her family, church, flowers, gardening, and being back on the farm where she grew up. The friends, neighbors, and families of the farm community were an important part of her life.
She is survived by her son, Loren (Evelyn) Buss, granddaughters, Lyla (Shon) Davis, and Lorelyn Buss, great-granddaughters, Kyla and Lyza; a brother, Richard (Lorraine) Anderson, sister in-law, Kathy Anderson, and many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guida and AWT Anderson; siblings, Vernon, Helen and Pat, and this past October, her husband Lyle.
Memorials may be sent to Round Prairie Lutheran Church.
