Cyndi died on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, after her body could no longer maintain her spirit after a 2 year battle with cancer. She was 45 years old.

Cyndi was born on October 1, 1959 in Laguna Beach, CA and was raised on a farm near Ledyard, Iowa. She attended Luther College and received a BA in Biology and Psychology in 1982, and received her BS in nursing from Creighton University in 1983. She completed her masters in nursing along with certification as a nurse practitioner in 1996. Cyndi was honored to be able to provide health care to the Alden Community from 1996 -2001, and Cyndi was delighted to be working as an instructor of nursing at Riverland Community College when she became ill and could no longer work.

During her two year struggle with cancer, Cyndi was able to spend much more time studying her Bible which brought her great strength for each hurdle she faced. Sharing her faith with others brought her profound joy in a way she had never experienced before.

Cyndi met her best friend, Steve Wiese at Luther College. They were married on August 6, 1983 and were blessed with 3 amazing sons. Tyler, age 19, is a freshman at Luther College, Isaac, age 16, is a sophomore at ALHS and Noah, age 4 A , attends Montessori Preschool. Cyndi's greatest peace came from seeing the faith of her children grow through the struggles they encountered these past two years.

Cyndi was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society of Nursing and Phi Kappa Phi, International graduate Honor Society. Cyndi was a member of the United Methodist Church of Albert Lea and had enjoyed teaching Sunday School there. She had also served on the YMCA board. Cyndi and her family have been overwhelmed and humbled by the generous support, love, and concern shown to them by their church and community these past two years. Seeing the body of Christ working in such a profound way has done so much to strengthen the faith of Cyndi's family.

Cyndi is survived by her husband, Steve Wiese and their 3 sons Tyler, Isaac, and Noah; her parents, Earl and Jeane Cowin of Ledyard, IA, grandmother, Bernice Drozd of NY, a brother, John Cowin and his wife, Sharon and their daughter, Olivia of Ledyard, IA and sister, Crysti Neuman and husband, Paul and their children, Taylor, Travis, and Trevor of Salem, WI., father and mother-in-law, Robert and Marcia Wiese of Gladbrook, IA, sister-in-law, Cheryl Wiese and her daughter, Quinn of Des Moines, IA, brother-in-law, Scott and wife, Renee Wiese of Gladbrook, IA.
