Carol Bohonek

The Memorial Service for Carol "Cookie" Bohonek of Albert Lea, MN will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, December 1, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church. Pastor Dwight Netzer will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church.



Cookie died Monday, November 28, 2005 at St. John's Lutheran Home. She was 69 years old.



Cookie was born in Albert Lea, MN on June 24, 1936, the daughter of Arthur and Hazel (Knutson) Hewitt. Cookie graduated from Albert Lea High School. She lived a short time in Burbank, CA, Conger, MN and most of her life was spent in Albert Lea, MN. She was married to Richard Bohonek, Sr. on May 10, 1955 in Mason City, IA. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church were she had been confirmed.



Cookie worked at Naeve Hospital in Central Supply, Miami Margarine, Hardees, Nelsons Co. Market, HyVee, St. John's Lutheran Home, Conger Meat Market and Home Health.

She volunteered for American Cancer Society, Hospital Auxiliary and was a delegate for the Republican Party.



Cookie enjoyed watching her son play football and betting with Chad on professional sporting events. She also enjoyed cooking, and playing organ.



Her favorite times where those spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.



She is survived by her three children: Julia Bohonek of Albert Lea, Rick Bohonek and his wife, Wendy of New Prague, MN, Chad Bohonek and his wife, Missy of Rock Island, IL; four grandchildren: Jordan Bohonek of Albert Lea, Jennifer and her husband, Paul Wallis of Wynne, AR, Bethany Bohonek of New Prague, MN, and her fiancAsh, Jeremy Nelson of AR, Luke Bohonek of Rock Island, IL; brothers: Donald Hewitt and his wife, Shirley of Grand Marais, MN, Dr. Richard Hewitt and his wife, Susie of Red Wing, MN, and several nieces and nephews.



She was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Alert Fretheim; sister, Dorothy (Dr. Leo) Prinz-Kemp; son Michael Bohonek.



The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the loving support from her many friends.



She will always be remembered for the warmth of her hugs.
